Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
An important political figure commented the vandalism made him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
